IT students think they know it all

May 31st, 2007 @ 12:00 pm

Among us information system students, well… for those who actually decide to do stuff with their skills, we, in the process become a little too confident in ourselves.

“The way I set up our systems is the only way that will work… no one can do it better!”

Why do we think this way? Why must we be a know-it-all? And IF, God forbid, we are wrong the first thing we do is blame the hardware and/or software. As students we are more likely to set up our own server that is totally unreliable to host websites than pay an actual hosting company 10 bucks a month to handle it. Is there something wrong with our head? Or do we just love the risk of heart attacks and the highblood pressure? I don’t know…

If anything else, we are also the laziest people in the industry. There is completely nothing for us to do 90% of the time. Like right now i’m sitting in my office hoping a giant storm hits so that the power goes out, so that I may walk around acting all important although knowing the backup power will kick in right before the UPS system drains. I just love hearing “the servers down” for some odd reason. Does this make me a bad IT student? No, it doesn’t. It’s people like us that companies reply on. They make us think we’re important because they don’t know how to power cycle a printer, start up the computer  in bios mode, or think the network is down simply because their computer doesn’t turn on. IT rules the business place… I guess I have every right to be confident after all.

You IT (idiosyncratic Techno-gizmos) design the codes and mainframes that are integral structures within the programs to process everything. Normal people criticize their work but you of all people prize your work and feel that it is a solid piece of great ingenuity and hard work/time. Why would you want fault yourself for a bad piece of coding? You are worthless… lol.

i’m just kidding. I’m one of the laziest people who have nothing better to do than be online all the friggin time. I would hope for a power outage too. Hope the back up dies too. hahah Chaos in servertown. how exciting. I”ve never been so excited since my computer blew smoke and made clicking noises. I”m just playing. haha. go to work! stop blogging at work yo. jk.

    All I’ll say is this

I love how you need a storm to make you feel important lol Come on, servers go down ALL the time, ESPECIALLY when you DON’T want them to, like the days when you had something planned lol

Oh yes, I used to be quite a techie myself, and I hated having to deal with servers, because the cause was always something stupid and simple that i forgot to troubleshoot lol

Lol, I am somewhat uneducated in computer skills so I’ll leave this clash with everyone else.
