Bad Times for Gay Slur
An internal investigation has been launched at the New York Times after a top editor was alleged of using a homophobic slur towards another employee during an office farewell party last month. Immediately after the allegations were made public, the New York Times established the Diversity Advisory Council and sent out a company-wide memo outlingi its latest initiatives in political correctness.
Apparently “A masthead editor called one of their [employees] a faggot at the going-away party. An investigation is going on now. Somebody may lose their masthead position and possibly their job.”
The person in question is Michele McNally, the director of photography for the New York Times.
The Times, which refused to use the word “gay” for many years (insisting on “homosexual,”) now prides itself on its inclusiveness, and began running same-sex couples in its wedding announcements in 2002. Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis said the matter was now closed. Keep in mind this is still an investigation so don’t go around saying Michele McNally is a fag hater just yet. If she was fired go ahead and laugh at her a little.
