The CW Says Being Horny Is A Part of Our Lexicon

Gossip Girl OMFG Campaign

Last week we posted a poster that was thought to be a poorly photoshopped ‘parody’ of Gossip Girls. Turns out the thing was a real ad campaign! Geez how cheap can you be? After much media attention and backlash from people who just sits there at the computer and complain, the CW finally decided to revised their adverts a little.

The original poster that circulated around features two of the cast in a sexual position with white text reading “OMFG” on it, and of course the CW brand at the footer. To bring down the public tension the CW network spent more money and release two of the same versions without the “F” word.

The network says, “We wanted to create a provocative campaign that stands out from the competition and reminds viewers of some of the OMG moments that have made ‘Gossip Girl’ one of the most buzzed about new shows on television.”

Which is truly understandable. Heck, when Chace Crawford took off his shirt in one episode I yelped “OMFG OMFG OMFG” and then I was finished.

The network adds that “This sexy, sophisticated campaign speaks directly to our adult 18-34 viewers, using expressions that are part of their lexicon.”

Our lexicon - how fancy? Also, it wasn’t a sophisticated advert. I could do the same thing by grabbing some images off the television set using my webcam.
