Hold Ye’ Gay Marriage

June 2, 2008 @ 2:27 pm

Hold Ye Gay MarriageAn anti-gay activist group is asking the judge for a five month delay of any gay marriages in the state of California.

A conservative legal group asked the California Supreme Court on Thursday to put off finalization of its decision legalizing same-sex marriage until voters got a chance to weigh in.

The Arizona-based Alliance Defense Fund wants the ruling stayed until November, when voters will probably encounter a ballot measure that would amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage. That amendment would overturn the justices’ ruling.

- Those Bastards! They killed Kenny.

The state will apparently suffer “Great public harm and mischief” according to a paper that was submitted to the court Thursday if it began allowing same-sex marriages on June 16, as originally planned.

“The people of California have a constitutional right to vote on marriage, and we trust the high court will respect the democratic process,” said Defense Fund senior counsel Glen Lavy, who argued before the court for maintaining the state’s one-man, one-woman marriage laws.

It is somewhat of an amazement that something as simple as two people (of the same sex) wanting to share a life - must endure such a primitive governing system. I wonder if these people (those opposing) ever stop and think for a moment: “If we put our religious prejudice aside, is there still a problem with gay-marriage?” Can same sex marriages pose any danger to society…? Hallo, it’s about two people LOVING each other…The so-called “Great public harm and mischiefâ€?, what is it that is specifically being referred to here? “The people of California have a constitutional right…” umm, and what about the gay person’s constitutional right? Gay people are no less human beings than straight, but no reference is made to their rights! It is indeed very unfortunate that the whole ‘issue’ with gays, stem from conservatives clinging onto literal biblical scripture. Or are we now going to deprive homosexuals from religion, and make them of as some sort of Satan-incarnate!!?? As an atheist, I couldn’t care less what religious argument might be put forward, advocating anti-homosexuality - it is all based on a book of which I question the authenticity and authorship to a large extent. In this day and age, can we still justify depriving people of what they are….or for that matter, what they were ‘created’ as?? There is something for all these right-winged Jesus-troopers to think about, who ‘created’ the gays? A different god maybe, since religion at large can’t even agree on the concept of god…! All of this anti-homosexuality is unacceptable and to use the ‘holy word of god’ to justify it is even more ridiculous. Look around you, gay people are everywhere, IT’S A FORCE OF NATURE.
