Like Denzel Washington, Bana has a powerfully masculine, intimidating physical presence and brings an epic-heroic dimension to his roles that’s rare in recent movies. A hallmark of his acting is an ability to be at once courteous and nitrogen cold; you can see it throughout his career, notably in The Other Boleyn Girl. As Henry VIII, “he’s very much the man who’s never had anybody say no to him,� says his costar Natalie Portman.
